1. Deafworks is a small consultancy exclusively concerned with issues around deafness.
The partners and other professionals who work for the consultancy are either deaf themselves or else have a sustained experience of issues concerned with deafness. All have a considerable amount of experience in their particular field (education, social work, the arts, play, counselling and so on). Deafworks’ advice and support is sought by the major charities, national and local government departments, and commercial firms right across the country. The combined experience of deafness of both partners totals 92 years.
2. Nicholas Callow is one of the partners of Deafworks.
I have 25 years teaching experience with deaf children, covering the age range 2 to 16 years in day and residential special schools, in hearing impaired units and in integrated situations. My knowledge of the impact of deafness on everyday life is strongly based upon contact with members of the Deaf Community in a professional capacity through Deafworks and prior employment, and through extensive social contacts over many years. I am a member of many deaf social affiliations and professional bodies. Additionally my knowledge of childhood deafness outside a school setting was broadened by my involvement over four years in a playscheme for deaf children.
