- Laraine Callow (Director of Deafworks) runs courses providing an introduction to pre-counselling skills and the issues involved. She includes an understanding of counselling expectations of deaf people, perceptions of deafness and counselling, handling counselling situations. By the end of the course you will know how to: Give deaf people time, Use appropriate language, Encourage deaf clients to talk to you, Agree a useful way forward.
- There are NO teaching of counselling methods and theory - the workshop focus on practical skills. The facilitator creates a safe place where people can feel free to discuss sensitive issues about working with deaf clients.
