We help and guide your deaf audience growth.
New!
Deafworks now runs “Lunch and Learn” sessions for up to ten staff to discuss a pressing concern or to brainstorm solutions to a problem unique to the organisation. The “Lunch and Learn” fee is £250 (includes travel if within Central London). An agenda can be agreed beforehand or on the day and will be very focused on finding the answer and simple ways of implementing this. Laraine Callow (Director) has 30 years professional expertise in the field and will happily share this with you.
One day (or half day) Deaf Awareness workshops
Who
Are you a staff member or manager at an arts centre? Regional or national art gallery? Large or small museum? Local or national theatre, art house or multiplex cinema? A historical building or site?
Aim
Are you thinking about how to make your venue more deaf friendly, and for it to be more accessible to deaf visitors and deaf arts practitioners?
What you get
We will give you practical advice and support which will make your aims easier to achieve and will address your concerns. This can be on a one-off basis, or over an agreed period.
How it works
Look below at what we can offer then email njc@deafworks.co.uk or give Nick Callow a ring on 020 7689 0033 to discuss your initial ideas, and then dates and fees.
We offer several options – choose the one which suits you best
- A one-off meeting with Deafworks to discuss your programme for D/deaf visitors – let’s make sure your programme is accessible and deaf-friendly.
- A planning meeting with Deafworks for a specific event – tick off a specially written shopping list so you know everything has been covered.
- Support at your arts workshop or event – we can host, support and evaluate your event for you.
- An initial consultation meeting and follow-up report from Deafworks – if your access programme is brand new and you need some advice. Look at the consultancy page.
- Employment and support of Deaf arts development worker: we have years of experience of employing deaf staff and in advising others about this. Look at our information on Working with a Deaf Colleague workshop.
- Management and support of gallery sign language interpreted talks – we can help you plan your signed talks.
- Deafworks has also researched and produced publications for arts venues – see Publications and Resources.
- Deaf Awareness workshops: we can come to you.
- Advice on publicity: how to attract deaf people to your venue. We can also help with advertising.
- Assess your venue: we were assessors for the Jodi Awards 2007 and 2008 for excellence in accessible venues for the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.
- We have worked with most of the London art galleries, museums, and other centres around the UK. Look at Our Customers list – are you there?
